How Big Is Baby?

Are you always wondering how big that little baby is inside your big baby bump? Each week I read many week-by-week fetal growth charts, and although they tell me the average length and weight of my baby, it’s still difficult for me to visualize the exact size. Here’s a great chart that compares the size of your baby with familiar objects to help you more easily picture exactly how big your little bundle of joy is.

Weeks 3 & 4 your baby is an embryo the size of a poppy seed.

Week 5 the average size of your baby will be .13 inches long. About the size of a sesame seed or apple seed.

Week 6 the average size of your baby will be .25 inches long. About the size of a sweet pea or lentil.

Week 7 the average size of your baby will be .51 inches long. About the size of a blueberry.

Week 8 the average size of your baby will be .63 inches long and .04 oz. About the size of a raspberry or kidney bean.

Week 9 the average size of your baby will be .90 inches long and .07 oz. About the size of a green olive or large grape.

Week 10 the average size of your baby will be 1.22 inches long and .14 oz. About the size of a prune or kumquat.

Week 11 the average size of your baby will be 1.61 inches long and .25 oz. About the size of a small lime or fig.

Week 12 the average size of your baby will be 2.13 inches long and .49 oz. About the size of a large lime or plum.

Week 13 the average size of your baby will be 2.91 inches long and .81 oz. About the size of a medium shrimp or peach.

Week 14 the average size of your baby will be 3.42 inches long and 1.52 oz. About the size of your fist or a lemon.

Week 15 the average size of your baby will be 4.0 inches long and 2.47 oz. About as long as a Kit Kat and the size of an apple or orange.

Week 16 the average size of your baby will be 4.57 inches long and 3.5 oz. About the size of an avocado.

Week 17 the average size of your baby will be 5.12 inches long and 4.94 oz. About the size of your hand spread open wide or a turnip.

Week 18 the average size of your baby will be 5.6 inches long and 6.7 oz. About the size of a sweet potato or bell pepper.

Week 19 the average size of your baby will be 6.0 inches long and 8.5 oz. About the size of a heirloom tomato.

Week 20 the average size of your baby will be 6.5 inches long and 10.6 oz. About the size of a small cantaloupe.

Weeks 21-22 the average size of your baby will be 10.51-10.94 inches long and 12.70-15.17 oz. About as long as a banana and the size of a papaya.

Week 23 the average size of your baby will be 11.38 inches long and 1.10 lbs. About as long as a carrot and the size of a small doll.

Week 24 the average size of your baby will be 11.81 inches long and 1.32 lbs. About the size of an ear of corn.

Week 25 the average size of your baby will be 13.62 inches long and 1.46 lbs. About the size of a rutabaga.

Week 26 the average size of your baby will be 14.02 inches long and 1.69 lbs. About the size of a cucumber.

Week 27 the average size of your baby will be 14.41 inches long and 1.93 lbs. About the size of a cauliflower or eggplant.

Week 28 the average size of your baby will be 14.80 inches long and 2.22 lbs. About the size of a Chinese cabbage.

Week 29 the average size of your baby will be 15.2 inches long and 2.54 lbs. About the size of a butternut squash.

Weeks 30-32 the average size of your baby will be 15.7-16.8 inches long and 2.9-3.75 lbs. About the size of a head of cabbage.

Week 33 the average size of your baby will be 17.20 inches long and 4.23 lbs. About the size of half a pineapple.

Week 34 the average size of your baby will be 17.72 inches long and 4.73 lbs. About the size of a large cantaloupe.

Weeks 35-36 the average size of your baby will be 18.19-18.66 inches long and 5.25-5.78 lbs. About the size of a honeydew melon.

Weeks 37-Delivery (last month!) the average size of your baby will be 19.13-20.16 inches long and 6.30-7.63 lbs. About the size of a watermelon.
